ome people collect stuff. Jimmie Harrowvex collects hobbies.

A lifelong doodler turned local and regional band graphic artist, heavy metal riff meister, and creator of tiny worlds, Jimmie has always been driven by the desire to create something that leaves a kickass impression. Whether it's through crushing guitar riffs, eye-catching artwork, or intricately crafted dioramas, his philosophy has remained the same: if you're going to build something, make it unforgettable—and kickass.

Drawing has been a constant since early childhood. He was always sketching something, whether it was superheroes, monsters, or whatever happened to spark his imagination. If you had asked him what he wanted to be when he was younger, he would have said a commercial artist or comic book illustrator. Along the way, he explored all kinds of artistic pursuits, constantly experimenting with new creative outlets, but he always found himself returning to drawing.

In the mid-1990s, Jimmie discovered toy collecting and also decided to get serious about playing guitar, an instrument he had casually noodled around with since high school. Heavy metal and hard rock quickly took hold, and toy collecting fell by the wayside for many years. Music soon became his next creative language. Inspired by heavy metal, hardcore, and hard rock, he focused on one goal: creating kickass music that makes people bang their heads and move.

Being active in bands introduced Jimmie to countless people throughout the music scene, opening the door to creating artwork for bands and brands alike. For many years, graphic design became a major creative outlet alongside music. He designed logos, branding, custom artwork, and illustrations, always striving to create clean, original, and kickass visuals. While graphic design remains an important part of his artistic foundation, it has gradually taken a back seat to the craft that truly captured his imagination—building highly detailed scale dioramas.

Today, Jimmie also known as HVX Customs is best known for constructing immersive miniature environments that blur the line between model making and storytelling. Using foam, wood, plastics, lighting, and countless hours of weathering and detailing, he transforms everyday materials into realistic worlds filled with age, character, and history. His builds are designed not merely as backgrounds, but as environments that enhance the figures they display and invite viewers to imagine the stories unfolding within them.

His growing reputation for realism and craftsmanship led to commissioned work for Grindhouse Toys. His first project was a custom single-figure display environment, carefully designed to showcase individual collectibles in a realistic setting that complemented, rather than overshadowed, the figure itself. The success of that piece led to an even more ambitious commission: a large illuminated marquee display featuring an expansive multi-level diorama built to showcase the entire World War Hell figure line. Combining theatrical presentation, lighting, and cinematic scenery, the display became a striking centerpiece that reflected both the creativity of Grindhouse Toys and his dedication to craftsmanship.
